The former Nickelodeon star appears to be suffering from schizophrenia, a source familiar with her treatement told the News.
The only thing that's capable of keeping Amanda Bynes
away from Twitter is the psychiatric ward she's currently in. But her
silenced page was awakened Saturday when a message appeared reaffirming
her affection for the rapper Drake.
"I love Drake," the tweet read.
The message also woke up the rumor mill as stories about how and where Bynes was when she supposedly tweeted the words of admiration began to circulate. The "Hairspray" actress has been in fact been in the confines of a hospital for over a month.
Now, her lawyer Tamar Arminak sets the record straight by confirming her account was hacked and that Bynes has not been given access to the Internet while in the mental ward.
"Amanda's Twitter account has been hacked," she said in a statement.
"She is at the UCLA Medical Center with no access to phones or
computers."
Doctors at the UCLA Medical Center extended Bynes' long-term hold Friday and she could reportedly remain under their care for up to a year, according to TMZ.
But sources indicate that it's unlikely she'll stay for a year and will instead undergo treatment for another 60 days in order to stabilize her before she's transferred to her mother's home.
So while speculations swirled about Bynes' inability to stay away from Twitter despite her circumstances, Arminak cleared the air.
However, her cyber love affair with Drake did in fact start at the hands of Bynes and after months of being the object of her Twitter affection, the "Headlines" rapper finally responded.
"I don't even know who is doing that or what that's about," Drake said in an interview for the August issue of XXL magazine. "If that is her, I guess it's a little weird and disturbing."
Bynes most outrageous message to Drake was on March 21 when she wrote: "I want Drake to murder my v----a."
"It's obviously a behavioral pattern that is way bigger than me," he added. "Whoever is behind it, whether it's her or somebody else, they know people are paying attention so they keep it going."
